Psychosocial support is hope from war

YDF /private/ June 2021

The war in the country for the sixth year in a row has left a great legacy of suffering that affected various walks of life, and many residents were forced to flee, leaving their homes and everything they owned in order to search for a dignified and safe life.

The society in the country in general and in the governorate of Saada, in particular, is in dire need of providing psychological and social support services, in order to alleviate their suffering, pain, and psychological disorders and reduce the impact of the consequences of these disorders and trauma on their lives and future, themselves and those around them

Yemen Development Foundation works through the Community Center for the Displaced and with the support of Success Partners (UNHCR) to provide psychosocial support services to IDPs, returnees from displacement, affected people, and the host community.

Statistics issued by the Community Center for the Displaced indicated that the number of cases for which psychological and social support services were provided during the month of June 2021 (262) beneficiaries, of whom (141) males and (121) females, including (232) IDPs and (18) returnees from displacement. And (12) beneficiaries of the host community.

The statistics showed that the percentage of females and males who have psychological and social conditions and who received psychological and social support suffer from severe physical and psychological pain as a result of war, air raids, and bombing, as well as displacement, which still severely affects psychological conditions.

The statistics showed that (9) other disabled IDPs, including (5) males and (4) females who received psychological and social support, suffer from psychological conditions as a result of the war, and have been exposed to psychological and social pressures and tension due to fear of the uncertain future and their sources of income.
