The rainy season in Saada governorate coincided with the beginning of the second quarter of 2020, after YDF completed the distribution of (NFIs - ESKs) in the districts of Saada and Sahar.However, the rainy season of 2020 was very different from previous years, whether in terms of season length or in terms of abundance of water.
In more than ten districts of Saada governorate, many families were affected by heavy rains and torrential rains due to their simple homes, or by rockslides in mountainous areas, which led to families displacement from their homes looking for other places.
Yemen Development Foundation has followed with great interest and deep sorrow what the affected families have been exposed to in the various districts of Saada Governorate and began coordinating with the local authorities for field visits through its field team, assessing the needs of floods affected families and monitoring the effects of the rains in order to provide immediate necessary assistances.
Once the need assessment process was carried out and in coordination with (Yemen Shelter Cluster - Sa'ada Hub), Yemen Development Foundation was able to help the stricken families and respond to them in various districts, as (YDF) targeted (652) families affected by the floods with Non-Food Items (NFIs), while (307) affected families were assisted with Emergency Shelter Kits (ESKs).
